I admit, I'm one of those folks whose ideas on gun control were upended on September 11. Previously, I thought that gun control was largely harmless but hopeless - it wouldn't really inconvenience law-abiding citizens who wanted to own a firearm, but it wouldn't keep guns out of the bad guys' hands either. After Flight 93, I feel like we need a revival of the "well-regulated militia" idea, for civil defense. And the obvious place to start is with pilots. The Wall Street Journal has a strong editorial on the subject today. |
